ATOGEAR, a startup from an early cohort at HighTechXL, returns to its roots at High Tech Campus Eindhoven. ATOGEAR launched from Campus, moved to Eindhoven and is rejoining the vibrant ecosystem, this time as a member of the 3EALITY community.

3EALITY is High Tech Campus Eindhoven’s innovation hub for spatial computing and immersive technologies. It’s a community of innovators who work on applications and business models, support partners and residents in showcasing business solutions and educate the market by organizing events.

Decoding human movement with AI

ATOGEAR's core technology revolves around decoding human movement through its unbeatable AI in combination with the world’s thinnest smart variable insole. This smart wearable insole collects rich biomechanical data, which is then processed using proprietary algorithms and AI technologies. The result provides insights that help every human being, but also corporates who deal with human movement, including sport brands for their innovation activities, for example. The valuable data also helps professional athletes and sports clubs improve performance, prevent injuries and tailor training programs.

"Whenever someone out there is using our insole we are collecting very rich and unique data,” said Hupach. “So, our database is growing rapidly, becoming the world’s largest data base for human movement. It’s relevant for the entire ecosystem"

From B2C to B2B: a decade of innovation

Founded at HighTechXL’s accelerator program, ATOGEAR initially focused on a B2C model, providing runners with a unique AI coach offering personalized coaching tips, supported by smart insoles that measure every single step and the entire performance.

Since CEO Markus Hupach joined the company three years ago, ATOGEAR has pivoted to a B2B business model. This strategic shift has led to collaborations with major sporting goods brands such as Adidas, ASICS and Saucony, as well as partnerships with European professional football clubs and leaders in the field of athlete monitoring.

Rejoining the High Tech Campus ecosystem

Hupach says the comprehensive ecosystem was the primary driver for the return to High Tech Campus.

"It was our number one argument to come back because we wanted to be surrounded by high tech, innovative companies, young companies, agile companies,” said Hupach.

Which makes 3EALITY the perfect office location for the growing company. And as a company specializing in biomechanical data and smart wearable technology, ATOGEAR also contributes to the diverse 3EALITY community, aligning with the hub’s focus on emerging technologies and spatial computing.

Future markets: consumer health and medical applications

ATOGEAR wants to expand its technology into consumer health and medical applications. While there’s the need for specific certifications in the medical field, Hupach wants to explore using ATOGEAR’s technologies to address a wider range of needs, from helping healthcare providers manage their time on their feet to assisting diabetes patients and preventing falls among the elderly.

"Decoding human movement is in our core DNA,” said Hupach.
