On December 17, High Tech Campus Eindhoven (HTCE) signed a letter of intent with the municipality of Waalre to develop a residential area between Dirck van Hornelaan and Burgemeester Mollaan in Waalre, directly adjacent to the A67 and A2 highways. This initiative will provide space for rental housing and short-stay accommodation. The agreement was signed by Otto van den Boogaard, CEO of High Tech Campus Eindhoven and Suzan van de Goor-Gelens, alderman for housing of the municipality of Waalre.
High Tech Campus Eindhoven is the initiator of the project. The project aims to deliver several hundred residential units suitable for both people seeking housing, and employees of HTCE and high-tech companies. Through this initiative, HTCE contributes to the regional housing demand in consultation with the municipality of Waalre, in line with the growth of the Brainport region.
Key principles include diversity in housing types and affordability. The design focuses on careful integration and natural transitions between High Tech Campus Eindhoven, De Voldijn and the surrounding natural landscape. The development will include apartment buildings with smaller residential units, offering space for social interaction, recreation, and tranquility. In addition, the project emphasizes energy-efficient principles, with a focus on nature-inclusive construction and sustainable mobility. This includes a layout with limited car access and parking at the edge of the area.
In 2026, the plans will be further developed in coordination with the municipality of Waalre. This process will include a participation process involving local residents and other interested parties. Based on this further development, subsequent steps and decision-making will be determined.
