EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands – inPhocal, a Dutch deep-tech company developing next-generation laser technology for ultra-fast speed, high-precision marking applications, has raised an additional €5 million to accelerate the commercial roll-out of its patented laser beam innovation.
Cottonwood Technology Fund leads the investment round with existing co-lead investor DeepTechXL. Existing investors Brabant Development Agency (BOM) and Tech Invest also participated in the round, reaffirming their commitment to inPhocal’s mission.
This additional funding will be used to ramp up production capabilities, further strengthen the technical and commercial team and expand market reach.
inPhocal’s breakthrough lies in the ability to focus laser beams with an extended depth of field – up to 20 times longer than traditional systems – allowing for ultra-fast, distortion-free marking on curved and irregular surfaces. The ultra-fast marking speed also opens doors to new applications, currently out of reach for conventional technology, such as high speed marking of unique QR codes.
inPhocal’s laser systems are already demonstrating significant advantages over conventional laser and inkjet solutions, with the first lead customers within its beachhead market for food and beverages. The company’s technology not only improves efficiency but also contributes to sustainability by offering a clean, chemical-free alternative to traditional printing and labeling methods.
“We’re thrilled to have Cottonwood, BOM and DeepTechXL backing our vision,” said Robert van Tankeren, CEO of inPhocal. “Their support is a strong vote of confidence in both our technology and our team. With this funding, we are ready to move to the next phase of growth, bringing our laser technology to more customers and industries worldwide.”
“The potential impact of inPhocal’s technology is enormous, particularly in sectors where speed, precision and sustainability are critical,” said Patrick Claessen, Partner at Cottonwood Technology Fund. “We are proud to deepen our commitment to the company and support their scaling journey from a promising deep-tech innovator to a global industrial player.”
The round builds on inPhocal’s momentum, following successful first sales with leading industrial partners and strong interest from multinational corporations seeking advanced, eco-friendly marking solutions.
