EINDHOVEN, September 29, 2025 – a new Innovation Center for MedTech & BioTech will open at High Tech Campus Eindhoven. Developed by High Tech Campus Eindhoven and Smart Biomaterials Consortium (SBMC), with support from Brainport Development and the Brabant Development Agency (BOM), the center connects MedTech and BioTech innovators within the Brainport ecosystem. It helps early-stage and scaling companies in medical technology and biomaterials move faster from research to market, with advanced facilities and a strong partner network.

Located in building HTC 11, the center offers shared workspaces, laboratories, and GMP-compliant cleanrooms for pilot production at clinical standards. Combined with expert guidance and strong partner links, these facilities help innovators turn early research into market-ready healthcare solutions more efficiently.

Otto van den Boogaard, CEO High Tech Campus Eindhoven: “This Innovation Center is located in the heart of a rich ecosystem for innovation. It provides a homebase for growing companies and offers state-of-the-art prototyping and production for MedTech devices and biomaterial based therapies.”

Smart Biomaterials Consortium (SBMC) cleanrooms and labs

SBMC operates 400 m² of cleanroom and laboratory space for the development and pilot production of biomaterial based resorbable implants, plus technical and regulatory support for companies moving toward clinical use.

Jan Rietsema, CEO SBMC: “Our GMP-compliant cleanrooms enable companies to develop and produce under conditions required for clinical use. For start-ups, access to these facilities and our expertise can significantly shorten time to market.”

MedTech and BioTech in the Brainport region

The Brainport region is a leading hub for MedTech and BioTech, from precision systems to AI-driven diagnostics and smart biomaterials. Building on foundations laid by Philips and Thermo Fisher Scientific, it now hosts 350+ MedTech companies, produces 90% of Dutch MedTech patents and nearly half of national life sciences output. With BioTech as a cornerstone of future healthcare, Brainport offers a strong base for innovations such as resorbable implants and advanced wound dressings.
