The Gateway

The Gateway, a young startup that is creating their version of the metaverse, is making its debut at High Tech Campus Eindhoven's new innovation hub, 3EALITY.

Founders Bart Loosman, former CEO of MANUS and serial tech entrepreneur, and Rens Korsten, co-founder and CMO, are redefining immersive entertainment with the world’s first Metaverse Experience Center. They combine high-end technology, narrative depth and sensory elements to transport participants into fully immersive, cinematic worlds.

The company behind The Gateway is only a few months old but is nearly ready to launch their first project, “Interstellar Journey," on February 14.

This metaverse experience takes participants on an intergalactic adventure where they explore planets, fly in spaceships and complete tasks within a richly detailed narrative.

Using Unreal Engine for ultra-high-definition visuals and real-time rendering, the experience is a seamless blend of storytelling and immersion.

Bart describes The Gateway’s vision. “We’re building a new medium where people feel like they’re inside a new reality,” he said. “Our goal is to push the boundaries of what’s possible and create sentient immersive worlds to explore.”

The team has implemented advanced networking solutions, including Wi-Fi 7 streaming, and the latest NVIDIA-powered GPUs, to “push the limits of graphics.” This ensures low latency and unparalleled realism.

The founders’ long-term vision of The Gateway is to create custom Metaverse Experience Centers for entertainment giants such as Disney and Warner Brothers.

Following Interstellar Journey, The Gateway plans to launch a Vincent Van Gogh “resurrection” experience later in 2025. This experience allows users to step into Van Gogh’s paintings, interact with his virtual persona and learn about his life through AI-driven conversations. The experience will cover multiple important eras in Van Gogh's life, including his time in Nuenen, where he painted "The Potato Eaters."

As Halloween has become very popular in the Netherlands, the company plans a Halloween-themed experience available for the entire month of October. This won’t be your slapstick, friendly ghost experience! It’s meant to be truly frightening.

The launch of The Gateway at 3EALITY underscores the Campus’s commitment to fostering innovation in spatial computing and immersive technologies. Philipp Werle, Innovation Manager at HTCE, highlights the importance of such initiatives. “With hubs like 3EALITY, we aim to attract talent and grow our ecosystem into a hotspot for immersive tech,” he said. “Immersive” being the operative word here.

For those eager to jump on a spaceship or explore the future of immersive entertainment, tickets for Interstellar Journey are available now.
